Support measures in the forestry sector

From January 2 to February 2, 2024, the Rural Support Service (RSS) invites to submit project applications for two support measures in the forestry sector.

The purpose of these activities is to plant, restore and replace the forest stands, as well as to provide the maintenance of planted areas and the thinning of young forest stands.

LA7 – “INVESTMENTS FOR SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY”

The amount of public funding – EUR 13.5 million.
The funds are intended to be directed to the following activities:

• for thinning young stands and replacing forest stands –
  EUR 8 million;
• for afforestation activity – EUR 2 million;
• for the restoration of forest stands destroyed by forest fires
  and natural disasters – EUR 3.5 million.

LA8 – “SUPPORT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE RESILIENCE AND ECOLOGICAL VALUE OF FOREST ECOSYSTEMS”

The amount of public funding – EUR 3.5 million.

Aid rates and intensity:

• Afforestation – 1123 EUR/ha, intensity 60%;
• Restoration after disasters – 1085 EUR/ha, intensity 100%;
• Forest stand replacement – 1161 EUR/ha, intensity 60%;
• Thinning – 440 EUR/ha, intensity 60%;
• Agrotechnical maintenance – 204 EUR/ha, intensity 60% or 100%.

The deadline for the implementation of the submitted projects, if thinning of young forest stands and/or forest planting or stand replacement (without further maintenance) is carried out, is April 1, 2025.

On the other hand, in cases of additional agrotechnical maintenance the deadline is April 1, 2027.

Terms and conditions of the support measure and detailed information are available on the RSS website. Project applications must be submitted using the Electronic Application System of the RSS.

Support is available in accordance with the conditions of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy for 2023-2027.
